A performance of free trade that strives to overcome the strange-ness of others that is propagated and enhanced by the “War on Terror” and the economies of fear. Personal items are traded and the unique stories of each person are recorded and linked to the object. Rather than perpetuating economic value systems, trades emerge from alternate systems of value (emotional, narrative, need...) Listening to others’ stories creates an informal community and encourages a level of intimacy among ‘strangers’ that begins to counteract the propaganda of fear and economy.
